View Full Version : Logo Animation Video Contest ($50 USD to Winner)
We are a computer solutions company in UK and we need to an intro animation created for a presentation next week. We are looking for something original and using elements of our trademark logo, see our website for logo http://www.solidox.co.uk.
A prize of 50 USD will be awarded to the best and also collaboration on further projects.
All entrants must agree to international unlimited use of the winning animation. If you do not then do not post.
Running time must be between 10 - 20 secs
Please post entries here, winner will be announced Sunday 11th June 06. payments by paypal or western union only.
As we realise this may take some time to get entries, please could people wishing to participate post here immediately with an ETA of their entry.
Two day deadline, unlimited rights and a $50 prize - if it wins? Wow, you're not exactly shopping for quality are you? ;)
It might also be useful if you posted some specs - dimensions, resolution, format?
Out of interest, and don't take this wrong, can I ask your hourly rate for web design and/or IT consultation?

3 spheres isnt exactly taxing is it? We didnt post here to get a cheap deal, we actually thought we were supporting the community. I am sorry if we have offended people, but our offer still stands firm.

One thing, it's pretty hard to get the lighting right for the spheres the way the specularity on them is set up.

hmmmmmmm......I'm no professional or anything but out of my friends and me(even though I try gettin them to use blender but the don't:mad: ) I make them logos and such....so far I help my friend with the 3D stuff and he uses Flash for the 2D ......Maybe I'll try just to get more practice with blender............Not for the Money..........A true artist never worries about money only his works will truly satisfy him......

Sorry im not condescending, just assuming i suppose. c'mon guys, i didnt think id get so much stick, i am trying to support a community and all i get is critiscism. Go easy on me yeah? We have decided to have more than one winner, upto three, if the entries are good enough. But in good contest spirit we will still say whose is best overall so we know who is the "blender daddy"

yes sorry. i believe it is DAX font, but trebuchet has a close match.

Ihave an entry but my computer(I'm working on a laptop) can't handle a much larger ....but if you want it i'll give you the .blend file and maybe then ya'll could make a larger render............

WOW, WOW, WOW Im really impressed at these, this is going to be hard.
I think we could render them if need be, although having the belnd files would be a bonus anyway.

hmmm...really do you think mines pretty good......I am still an amature at 3D stuff.......its what I want to do as a career...but its way tooo soon for me....but you can have all rights to my animation as long as its mentioned that I made it.........
If you need a higher resolution render, just state what dimensions you want it to be and i'll rerender it :)

ashraf I asked that if they needed a larger redering because mine is only 180 by 120.......because my computer can't handle a larger render.....
mine was 500 something, took a reaally long time to render :P

i did a fast render.....I'm working on a laptop and when it has to load somthings(like blender renders)it starts over heating then cuts off....
Just a point to note. This is a corporate presentation so the logo must be as recognisable as possible and as corporate as possible. IF you cannot find the font (we have same trouble too) then the bubbles are quite recognisable so be imaginative with them and leave the text out. However ashraf i think didnt use dax and his is right on the nose of the type of thing we are looking for.
The winning video(s) will be played before and after presentations and between. We are also looking for something to act abit like a screen saver.
Im please with entries so far so please keep up the good work. I may extend deadline if you want me to.

hectic, i dont really want to give out hints as thats unfair. I know you're new so i think this is ok, although if someone objects please PM me.
Your text is italic which doesnt look right. Try and resize the spheres to match the logo and position them correctly.
I have put some ideas below for anyone who might be stuck.
Spheres drop onto the page and bounce a little bit and the text gloops in through the page to merge into the logo.
Spheres roll in from different locations.
text remains and spheres rotate around each other, starting and ending at the logo position.
sand or dust is blown away to reveal logo, could even be liquid like mercury or something.
Camera tracks ball through a journey which ends up in the logo.
How i see it is like the logos you see at the beginning of movies.
I may extend to monday.

hmmmmm........ill put some of your thoughts into it but like I said I'm an amature.....also my computer is not very good.....and its 3 in the (in Texas)morning.....i'll just dream you up a better logo.... see yah in about eight hours......hehe......
How many hours do we have?

GMT means "Greenwich Mean Time", friend.
Eastern Time is five hours behind.
Audio is a nice touch, but for now its not important, but please pass on your ideas. But this is strictly down to the animation. We are looking for artists to work with on other projects so this is really a testing ground and also helping us out on a project.

hmmmmmmmm...heres an updated entry....same idea but different animations/font..it plays on windows media player but i recommend QuickTime because like before its a small render(things can get ugly if you enlarge the animation)

Many thanks for the entries which all had their own merits, but Ashraf hit the nail on the head with his. He managed to get the shading and texture right and also kept the corporate logo which is important.
A special thanks to Cowdudes who endeavoured with good concepts but unfortunately was unable to keep the corporate image but im sure in time will be a contender.

:DCongrats to Ashraf. Can you share how you made the sphere material, if you actually made it. I couldn't make it.
well, the sphere material is quite simple..its just a basic lambert with very low spec and hardness setting.
i found the best way to emulate the spheres from the logo was to use the actual image itself, took a few tries to realise that though :P
hmm..still no word from solidox yet, I guess he's busy
