View Full Version : How do you make seamless UV maps?

I'm making a UV mapped texture, and I was wondering how in the world people can get their models to have seamless textures. Like on people and animals and stuff. Here's what I mean. The seam is near the neck.

Thanks!

Whilst this isn't specific to UV texturing, one way to create a seamless texture is as follows:

- Use a bitmap editor which allows you to displace images. It would be sensible to crop your chosen texture to a square first for easy tiling later.

- Displace your image a reasonable amount ( around 50% ) in both X and Y directions. The effect should be set to wrap back onto the opposite edges.

- You'll see a discernible corner shape edge in the middle of the image where the image doesn't match.

- Now, using cloning stamp and other tools, use your judgement to blend the join so it's seamless - making sure you don't change any of the edge pixels.

- Optionally, you can then displace the image back to it's original position.

The image should now tile seamlessly!
