I'm doing the Cog ocean tutorial (the new one) and I'm coming up with a problem. When I render a sample of the ocean, it looks more like blue mountains. I have used the settings he gives, but when I render, it just looks like bluish-white mountains.
I've attached a picture of what I'm getting. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I've noticed the Nor value actually affects displacement considerably. Even when you have to Nor button turned off, the value in the Nor slider still affects it. Make sure that's down to 0. That's my first guess.

Hi Shadowmane,
Make sure that you are mapping the displ texture correctly to the Empty and that all the settings are as shown on page 14 of the tutorial.
If that dosen't resolve the problem I suspect that your mesh is the wrong size. If neccessary download the http://www.cogfilms.com/tutorials/new-ocean/new-ocean-02.blend (http://www.cogfilms.com/tutorials/new-ocean/new-ocean-02)
and use that mesh and see if its improved.

I checked the size, and I think its right. I think I was using the newocean01 blend file. I checked the settings and I think they're right. Maybe if I post the blend file, you can look at it and see what I did wrong. What I have is very pretty, it just looks way too steep. I've had to make the noise soft for it to look right, and even then, the waves are too high. Check out the file, maybe you can see something I'm missing.

edit: I tried the NOR value. I didn't work. I still have moving mountains. I have a newer picture here now too.
Yep it's the size of your mesh. If you select your mesh and hit N, you'll notice the size is like 4.9 or something when it should be 1.0
