hey, long time no [image]post!
i thought i'd try something slightly different for a change. it's still not quite there yet in terms of readability and composition, but i cant keep working on this sadly :(

blender cvs for modeling, rigging, UVmapping and rendering. gimp for textures [body has a 5K texture map each for spec and nor] and post processing [waterdrops]

have fun!

Fantastic work my friend! Simply amazing. The only thing is he doesn't seem to have any Biceps which looks a bit weird. Exceptional piece @ndy. Anyway you could render me a background image?

Incredible!!!
This piece has a future predicition feeling in it. What will humans look like and would be able to do in a million years of evolution (I have to stop reading Blake&Mortimer 1950's scifi comics which give such ideas...). He looks like a mix of humans (from his face) and a roswell alien (body, fingers and thorax)

My only crit would be the lack of detail on the torso, maybe a more shaped musculature but he's not human so such rules don't aply to them I suppose
The materials, texturing and composition are perfect though and the rain drop effect adds a considerable realism to it.

I also noticed a weird thing on his fingers. The area where the fingers bend, it looks like they bend the other way (from the folds in the skin)

Otherwise this is just awesome! I'm looking forward to your next work

Very nice work, @ndy. It's quite different from what is normally seen here, and I love it!

Hi @ndy,

I was wondering if you'd like to post the unposprocessed render (smaller in size if you wish) to see the amount of post pro involved?

Do as you wish, thanks for the picture anyway, it's my desktop now!

I can't possibly imagine how I got five stars and this one four. This one deserves at least five stars! It is absolutely wonderful!
Truly fabulous work Andy. Congrats!

thanks a lot for the comments :)
unprocessed render:

original size was 2000x3000. i agree the upper arm texture is kinda yucky... but i was hoping to get away with it with all the raindrops :P

and here's a wireframe:

and this would be a part of the body texture:

cheers!

Fantastic mesh topology there @ndy. Also, that bump map is very well done.

Thanks for sharing.

The deformation of the body is really funky (as in cool), though I'm not sure about the flatness of his face.

Other than that a great example that PostPro is as important as the blending and all other steps in creating a work.

He's really good overall! I do have some crits though, his clavicles are rather funky looking. His biceps could use a tad bit more definition. They look like tubes right now and it seems rather jarring compared with the rest of the body. The hair is too thin even for thin hair in my opinion. It looks like it was painted on. The strands need to be a bit thicker and I find that if you light the hair with its own lights you can get realistic results.

Too bad for odd dimensions or I would use it as a background. For some reason everytime I see it I think Native American witch doctor? Perhaps it's the name "Rainmaker" Fantastic work though, like I said before.

This is really nice. Can I ask how you go about creating the textures, like the body texture you posted? I'd love to see a good tutorial on creating skin textures like that.

Hi ,

Like bugman_2000 , i would really love to see a good tutorial on how to create a good texture like yours (haven't been able to find one good or bad on the web :().
But it's understandable (comprehensible:confused:) cause it's a vaste art too .

Did i have to say that your picture rocks ?

Peace :).
