Hi,
This a work I submitted some times ago, but I improved the result and I wanted to post it again. The objective here was to make a composition using texture mapping, the box, the notice and especially the bullet's containers where several textures are applied on the same surface using images with alpha channels.
Over the exercice itself, I took the opportunity to illustrate the danger of using some drugs. Hope you like in spite of the ironic aspect. This could be an entry for a contest, just for the fun, the theme would be the danger of misusing for instance drugs, alchool, over eating, smoking, what ever you want, just use you better CG talent to illustrate it.
So here is my entry.
Made with blender
Rendered with Yafray

top notch stuff!
i was actually staring at it for 3 minutes, trying to find clues whether it's cg or a photo... still cant decide, beautiful! :)

ps: actually. the table texture [especially the bumpmap] got me. but that's only a very minor thing.
Indeed, the table is the only thing throwing it off for me as well.
Saw this over at CG Talk some time ago. Really nicely done.

I really like the table, the groves, scuffs, and scratches, it doesnt look like a perfect brand new surface it shows years of worn and torn, perfect!

Wow! This is fantastically photorealistic. How long did it take to render?
I also like the idea of it; very clever :)
Awesome, love the concept and very nicely done owerall :D
Where can I buy these babys?
Yea moddeling, texturing and lighting are perfect! Nice Ideaa too.
Only the table texture has a too low resolution :( - but hey - thats no problem ^^
I vote whit ***** stars because its GREAT!!!:)
Wow. amazing. really wonderful render Enrico. really reaslistic. cool !
***** well earned !
cool. the first thing that came to mind was the JFK assassination, you know, with all of the bullet conspiracies.
nice.
holy cow, that's amazing. That's the kind of image that makes the program writers proud. VERY nice job.
Seriously nice. All but the table looks photo real. I especially like the plastic packaging on the bullets. Great stuff :D
awesome work indeed. I found the edges of the cardboard box flaps a bit weird, ( i dont think they would have the white coating on them) and the far corner looks like it may have som subsurfing issues. But that's really getting stingy, great stuff.
Wow, amazing! I would really like to know, what does Yafray do? What features did you use to make it look realistic - radiosity, raytracing, Deptho of field, ambient occlusion, which ones?

Though,
the thickness of the box is a giveaway.
But very good!

Awesome. Great texturing.
The only bit that looked a bit odd was the backing foil of the packets. It didn't look metallic enough I think, and the break-lines looked a bit thick.

Thanks to all !
I knew the table texture had a problem, the texture resolution is probably to low and I didn't found bump settings to avoid the front blur, I improved it a bit, I think it's better but still not perfect.
anoncompboy : I think using Yafray implies radiosity and that's probably the answer, I rendered it with blender internal using AO, the result was quite nice but Yafray really add something else but you can't point it.
looks beautiful. the thickness of the silvery packaging the bullets come in doesn't look quite right. other than that, a couple things alread mentioned. great job

wow is it really built with blender?
it looks like...??? !!!top!!!.
Really top stuff. I like especially amazing bump effect. Behind the content. Vbuletin or Mango? Mango includes more and easy customizable PHP modules [Mango shop] and stands on extremely fast MySQL an PostgreSQL. I'm going to take BEOS. It seems to be fasest uni(x) base for now. But as i see at CG Talk Vbuletin construction is much better for big community portals. Give some shoots of administration panel.
Ok. I'm going out today short XI and new Modo training. Tommorow i'm ready to go with all existing CG Environments on out planet.
That is BY FAR the most realistic image I've ever seen done with Blender and Yafray. You're truly getting a pro "edge" on things.
Light is perfect, realism is total. I can't honestly see the difference from an image or a photo on this one.
(And I've never said that to ANYONE before)
Good work!

Hi, thanks to all
@apfelbeißer : Yes it is done exclusively with Blender and rendered with Yafray, no postpro execpt for some contrast and light correction.

I can't believe that's not a real photo let alone a blender artwork!!.
It is so realistic that I went through everyone's comments..trying to figure out if I can see any difference and the answer is not all . Great stuff, I still think its a photo though:rolleyes: lol. Well, I know its not now, and have you ever thouht of writing a tutuorial on Blender?

Crap, i am still trying to bring myself to believe that this was made in 3d. Things like this are the ones that make me believe that Autodesk are really stealing 3000$ out of every costumer they have. Reaally great work, then again I would love if you could make a tutorial for blender, from beginners to advanced, as, having seen a lot of work from this website I believe that you are the only one that can make such photorealistic images. Congrats, you made my day. Aaaah I still want to break those pills from their envelope one by one, I love doing that...
Dude, check the last post date.

Yea. AND IT STILL LOOKS GREAT
Yea. AND IT STILL LOOKS GREAT
Yep.
This image is the one that convinced me I had to learn to build Yaf(a)ray, as it wasn't available any other way, and I just had to find out how to make images this good.

I saw this first on yafaray.org gallery and this was what made me take blender more seriously.
(though i later learnt that it is the renderer that makes an image look good)
wow amazing stuff
I saw something a lot like this on cg talk
nice work man
Great job, almost photo realistic! Only one negative thing though: the name is the same as one of those crap things they trying to sell with those tellsell commercials.

love it.

getting past the overwhelming quality of the render it's a very sad image! I'd say some drug awareness groups would love to hear about this and use it in their campaigns.
You should email it to talk to frank and some others!
wow. that could be mistaken for a photograph.
wtf how have u done this ? in blender there is no such thing has GI or Final gather or indirect illumination. you have to get the yafray ... but has long as i can tell, yafray stoped to be developed, and its now dead. is there another Ind. iluminnation plug in that people are using right now ?
Was yafray still available on 28-Apr-06?
Because that is when this image was from;)
so what is the Ind Illumination engine that people use with blender right now ?
For all of you wondering how this image was done, Enrico kindly published a making of (http://www.myline.be/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=43&Itemid=205) some time ago, check it out. :)
