As pointed out by theeth this contest would have superimposed with Blender on the Haunt contest if this latter were to be issued.
There was the general thinking that this would not have been the case but, luckily, Blender on the Haunt is out there.
Being On the Haunt an historical Blender contest it has precedence, of course.
Since the theme is not so different, orange and I are arranging to hold both the contest together, on the same site, with appropriate voting systems.
The previous rules to this contest will hold as long as they do not interfere with the On the Haunt contest rules, so... STAY TUNED!!!

Living Mechanics contest is next to the end :) So time is to think to amother long term contest.
GOAL: Create an artistic representation of the Gates of Hell. (How unoriginal am I, look at BgDM's ttp://www.elysiun.com/viewtopic.php?t=761 )
RULES (Much similar to previous):
1 Modelling AND rendering must be completely done in Blender.
2 Texturing can be done both with Blender built in procedurals or with images/plugins/whatever, but images will participate into two separate categories.
3 Post Processing is allowed only to re-scale the picture and get better anti-alias.
4 Entries must be in JPEG or PNG format, in a resolution not more than 1280 x 1280 YOu must host images on your own site and guarantee that images will remain visible throug all voting process.
5 You can reuse objects, but the main part of your entry should be new, as in not finished at the time of the launch of this contest.
7 You can NOT submit more than one entry.
DEADLINE:
The contest will start accepting entries November 1st and the last entry must be sumited before midnight (Elysiun Time) November 30th.
TEAMWORK:
Team work is not allowed.
VOTING:
Entries will be judged by the public in the two categories (Pure Blender, Blender+externally produced textures) with a voting system where people award points to entries. The score of each entries in these categories is the average of all the points score they were given by all the voters. (I strongly hope in using the same method of the LM contest :P )
Votes will be awarded for:
- Modeling: Judged on model quality
- Materials: Judged on quality of material/textures used
- Lightning: Judged on lightning quality
- Mood: Judged on the mood of the scene
- Originality: Judged on the originality (should I explain everithing?)
Average of these 5 will produce the overall vote.
Special award might be considered...

Entries will be tumbnailed on an appropriate page which I will host. To get the feeling her's the (english) translation of the most famous description of that gate:
