hi all,
this goes to all of the "advanced" blender-heads who did try the new tuhopuu UV-editor options.
(iirc TorQ, MonkeyBoy, Modron some and others may claim to be ... )
so here it is:
the uv_mapping challange:
show up the power of the new options to all the other users, give 'em a mini tutorial or so...
starting off with:

so we just UV map the chicken? sounds good. I'll do it. I've been fooling around with another top secret method I have too, so look out! :Z

so we just UV map the chicken?

i was sitting and wondering how to illustrate the new options in tuhopuu's UV editor. So i whiped out a almost sphere model with some almost cylindrical elements. Plan is to define vertex groups to show special aligned sphere and cylinder mapping. After that show the fine tuning with the new selecting (sticky, face, island), welding ( s,w), healing tools.

Phew, you see... a lot to be shown,
( looks like a complete adavanced UV mapping tut )
may be you want to help me?

Yeah I think people need to get to know the tuhopuu UV mapping tools, so they will make it into the next official release. They rule. BTW, my secret method is as follows:
frame 1 set base key for mesh
go to frame 15
in edit mode, scale X and scale Y, but do not scale Z
tweak edges, and set another key.
select front half, ( or back ) and load 'from window'
go into texture paint mode, and make some refference marks
go back to frame 1 and check the positioning of your marks
back to texture paint, and furthere define the regions.
Now save the image, and also use UV exporter script to get an exact representation of the mesh coords.
finish in a paint program by opening the two images, adding a new layer, adjusting transparency, so you can see your reference, and when finished, make your last layer opaque, merge down and save.
If you were careful the first time through, there will be no need to repeat the process.

Anyway, I'm sure people have tried this before, but in case you haven't, it works, and it works very well.
