When I try to output an animation as QuikTime movie (one of the choices for output-format), I get following error massage (translated from Dutch): "The QuickTime software which is needed to perform this operation is missing. Unfortunately this software is not available at the QuickTime server".

My version of Blender is 2.28a
Operation System: windows XP home
QuickTime-version: N-6.1 (full registered version)

Can someone help me?

It might be simply that you fooled with the output settings, and that particular combination doesn't work with the codec youre trying to use. Try it with the default settings for that codec, and see if it works.

<<<edit>>> BTW you should probably try asking in 'Blender General' subforum.

Thank you for your reaction, but with default settings it doesn't work, and pushing the 'Set codec' button doesn't result in anything.
When I neglect the warning and start the animation, following error-messages appear in the dos-window:
(after adding each frame)
SCCompressSequenceFrame error: -32767
AddMediaSample error: -50

you should probably try asking in 'Blender General' subforum.

Thank you for the advice. I'll put my question also in the 'Blender General' subforum.
